Hello,

Does anyone know what the Hammer and Spanner symbol under Outlook 2003 /
Rules / Actions column means please?

I've had a look in the help and on the web but I can't find them.

Best regards,

Paul.

It shows the type of action. For instance when you only move the item it
will be an icon of a folder and an arrow.

Hello Robert,

Thanks for the reply. He's got the folder icon and then slightly to write is
the hammer/spanner icon - can you tell me what it actually means please? I
checked your site but I couldn't find it - nice site though )

Cheers,

Paul.

Thanks! :)

Basically it means any other action than;
-display the alert
-play a sound
-move to folder
-copy to folder
-change importance
-flag it
-delete it

as all the above actions have there own icon.

Regards,

Hello Roady,

Sorry but I'm still none the wiser as to what this the hammer and spanner
symbol means. I've looked at his rules, some have it and some don't but I
can't work why. Is there anyway you can find out please?

Cheers,

Paul.

Those rules that have actions other than the ones Robert listed will have
this "catch-all" icon.

Hello,

Brilliant I see now thank you. I've created an obscure rule and it has the
hammer and spanner icon. I checked the bosses machine and he has 2 icons on
some rules - i.e. he has a rule to play a sound so I can see the speaker icon
and he has the spanner and hammer. Do you know know what that means please?

Cheers,

Paul

What do you find unclear about the answers you've received so far? Once of
the most common reasons for this icon appearing is that you have the "stop
processing more rules" action on the rule, but it's not the only one. Any
action other than the ones that Robert named will be signified by that icon.

So the boss has probably got 2 actions on the rule - 1 for playing the sound
so he gets the speaker icon and some other rule that causes the H&S icon. I
just wanted to be 100% sure before I go explain it to the boss ) Thanks for
your help with explaining it.

Cheers,

Paul.
