Halo runs slow on a 9600 AIW

DP

I just started playing Halo and it started out running very slow. I had all
the graphics turned up at 1152x864 with 6xAA and 16xAF. I found out that
Halo doesn't support AA, so I disabled AA and AF and I still only get about
25 FPS, and around 10 FPS at times. I have the framerate option in Halo set
to Vsync at 85 Hz. I tried the constant 30 FPS option and the max FPS
option to no avail.

I can get 85FPS(limit due to refresh rate) with AA and AF and all graphic
options turned all the way up in Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Theif, and
Q3A.

My setup is
DFI Lanparty 875
Pentium 4 2.8c running at 3.016
2 256MB sticks of 400mHz Corsair XMS running @ 434mHz
AIW 9600 o/c to 450/670

Has anyone gotten Halo to run good on a 9600 Pro chipset?

Halo runs sluggishly even on the fastest hardware. Try turning the
resolution down/refresh rate down or turning off some of the special
effects (specular lighting comes to mind.) You might also try running
the game with the command line option "-use14" to force ver. 1.4 pixel
shaders. That doesn't make as big of a difference on Radeon cards as
FXs however.

Also be aware that anisotropic filtering is on by default in version
1.03. If you want to disable it you'll need to rem out (//) the
appropriate line in the ATI section of the config.txt file.
