half dead system - need help

First of all didnt know where to place the post but i
hoped you could help me


I ran a normal system restore and it a went fine until it
was supposed load windows again. After passing the windows
starting dialog it went black screen. I tried over and
over with (belive its called) fail-safe and all the other
stuff in the F8 menu. Nothing worked and after a few times
it didnt even reach the windows starting dialog before it
just restarted the computer. I tried booting from my xp-cd
and it reached and passed the startup loading of all the
drivers only to turn blackscreen right after. Seeing it
didnt work i made a set of floppy boot disks but the setup
produced the error message

File \biosinfo.inf could not be loaded.
The error code is 4096
Setup cannot continue. Press any key to exit

any idea what could have happened & how i get my computer
up and running again?

System restore does not do or require the operations you
did.

You began a system reinstall.

I suggest you boot the CD again, select install, and do a
format and clean install. You will lose your data but will
be starting fresh, as though all your screw ups didn't
happen

You might be able to do a repair install and that might be
worth trying.

Don't know if i did'nt explain it right but thats the
friggin problem. It dont accept my xp cd. After the
initialising of all the drivers it turn black screen!! I
cant acces the reinstall menu and thus can't reinstall
windows

Btw. i can acces the bios so i wonder if its a HD-problem

It could be bad memory, try some different RAM.

got two blocks of 256 ddr tried unplug both of them (one
at a time) it just replied with


File \i386\KDCOM.DLL could not be loaded.
The error code is 4
Setup cannot continue. Press any key to (translated from
danish)

if i recall correctly it happened when it tried to load
the kernel debuffer

think it's a corrupt hd but i dont really know what to do
