Groupwise email integration

We are running machines with XP, IE6 and groupwise 6.
Groupwise to be the default mail client under internet
options.

When we click on a link to email it will come back saying
that the default mail client is not properly installed.

It does work on the older machines but not on the newer
ones.

How do we get this to work.

It works with IE5 but not with IE6, how is that a
groupwise issue.

Groupwise support says to uninstall IE5 then activate
groupwise as the mail client, then upgrade to IE6. I
can't do that on an XP machine.

This to me points as a microsoft problem.

Did you tell Groupwise Support that you're running WinXP? Is Groupwise (the
application) supported in WinXP environment?

It's not Microsoft's responsibility to make sure its applications are

Groupwise 6 and 6.5 is apparently compatible with WinXP though MS supposedly
claims Groupwise is not a "fully compatible MAPI client."
