Group Policy problem

M

Mark

Hello,

I have a network of 2000 Professional workstations that can connect
either to the Domain or log on locally when logging onto the network.

I am encountering a problem where when a restricted user logs in,
the desktop does not load. (In fact explorer.exe does not run or is
not running).

I think this is somehow tied into Windows 2000 group policies. This
happens if the user logs onto the domain or if the user logs onto the
local workstation.

Does anyone have any insight into how I can resolve this problem?

Thanks,

Mark

Hi Mark,

You will want to run "gpresult.exe /v" from the command prompt and see what
policies are applying. From there you can determine if the policy is
configured locally or from the domain. Look at both user and computer
policies. Also, verify if all users are effected or just one.
