Group Policy Limits

Chris Hobby

Hello,

I was wondering if there are any limits as to how many Group Policies can be
applied in a domain. I have a single forrest/single domain model with 14
servers, 12 of which are DC/GC's, spread out over 10 sites. All servers are
running Windows 2000 Server (Standard) and my workstations are a mix of
Windows 2000 Professional SP4 and Windows XP Profession SP1. At each site I
want to apply three different GPO's for a total of 27 GPO's for the remote
sites and 6 at the corporate site. Any information (links, references,
etc...) will be greatly appreciated - thanks.

Hello Chris

the only limit is harddisk space.

all policies will be saved in SYSVOL share. this share replicates between
all DCs.

How ever, to have many GPOs applies to same objects can make the login
process slow. Make a standard of how you implementation Group Policy in your
domain. You easy know what each policy do by look at the name, that's a
recommendation.
