"Group By Conversation" question

In Outlook Express I can group emails by conversation, and if there is only a single email on a particular topic, it doesn't make it an expandable group of one. I can just see the email directly without having to expand/collapse it via the "+"

In Outlook 2002 every single email is placed under a header that must be expanded/collapsed. I find this annoying and wish it had the same fucntionality as Outlook Express.

Is this available in Outlook 2002 but I just don't know how to configure it correctly? If there is a way to have emails grouped by conversation but only if there are more than one email in the group, can someone show me how to do this? Thanks.

Sounds like you know how to set the "Group By" function in Outlook XP. What
you want is to be able to view the "Conversation" without the Group Header.
Hmmm, well I have two ideas to show you, but may not be exactly what you
want.

#1.
You may already have this; Go to the Group By Window, Click on the "Group
By" tab, and choose "Conversation". Look at the bottom right hand part of
that window and you will see another drop down arrow option. Click on the
drop down arrow and choose "All Expanded". Click Ok, Ok.

What this will do is have all the conversations grouped, it will still have
headers to identify the conversation group, but all are expanded, which one
doesn't have to click on the +/- group header to open/close each time.

#2.
This method may be more what you want.
First, undo/clear the Group By settings you have now, and work with a clean
folder with no group by settings, plain jane... Now right click on the
column header line that has From, To, Subject etc. A window should popup.
Click on Field Chooser, find and drag by holding down the left mouse button
"Conversation" and drop it next to the subject column (or anywhere you want
it). Exit Field chooser. You can cycle the sorting by clicking on
"Conversation".

Keep in mind, this isn't grouped by conversation but sorted by conversation.
