Group by Conversation: most recent, not alphabetical

This might need some sideways thinking.
I want to look at conversations rather than emails.
I am currently doing it using a search folder that looks only in Inbox &
Sent Items.
The clever bit is to then have the conversations (groups of messages) sorted
with the one which has the most recent email at the top, instead of
alphabetical order.
The "date" filed isn't ideal because it will still split a conversation if
some of it was on one day and another the next.

View-> Arrange By-> Conversation should do this already correctly for you.
The last active conversation will be shown at the top. The entire
conversation is then threaded in the way the conversation takes place
including branches. Items marked as read are hidden by default unless the
entire conversation is marked as read, then then the last item is still
shown.

Unless if there's something I'm missing, this sorts primarily by the
alphabetical order of conversation's original subject.
I wish to see by most recently received / sent, but then by conversation,
conversations not broken by date received.
To put it another way, I want to see conversations grouped, but the one with
the most recent email first - not by alphabetical order.
