green dots

My video card is acting strange, can anyone tell me what to do?

For some reason when I game my screen blanks to black. It can only be fixed
by opening and closing the task manager, and even then it blanks again after
only a few minutes. When I quit the game, it says my video card has
encountered an error, but recovered. Outside of games, there are green dots
all over my screen that move around and disappear randomly. I am running an
NVidia GEForce 6800GT with all the latest drivers, and windows vista ultimate
(64 bit). Are these problems because of a bad/shot video card or is there an
update I need to download?

Thanks for your help!

I had a lot of screen artifacts with Vista x64 using a 6800GT. I did not
have any issues with XP x86, XP64, or Vista x86. Just with Vista x64. I
tried a lot settings for the monitor but nothing worked. It is a dual
monitor rig and the second monitor never showed a problem. The issue turned
out to be with the DVI port (the second monitor is on the VGA port).

Finally, I replaced the card with a 7900GT and the issue went away
completely. I had issues with whichever monitor was connected to the DVI
port all through the beta program as well.

What resolution are you running over what interface to what type of display
with the 169.25 drivers for your 6800card.
