Great XP delay on NT network

My PC has XP Pro installed and is connected to an NT network.
I'm working remotely to a server's hard disk, and when I'm trying to
save a file it takes about 40 seconds to do so.

My previous PC had NT 4.0 installed and saved the files at about 1-2
seconds.

Does anybody have any idea why this happens adn how could I fix it?

could be the hardware issue. check the nic and switch settings.
