Grayscale

I am trying to bring a powerpoint presentation into a word
document by cutting and pasteing. This works fine, but I
need the presentation in grayscale or black and white for
printing purposes. It now brings the slides over in color.
You used to be able to select the button to change it and
it would bring it over automatically. Now it brings the
slides over in color, not matter what I do...Help!!!!

I am using the newest, I think it's 2002. I also have XP.

Ok. PPT 2002 is the same as PPT XP. So you probably have either PPT 2002 or
2003.

Doesn't really matter, though -- what I really needed to know is that you
have something more recent than PPT 2000, which is the last version in which
B/W output worked correctly.

So the upshot is that using Copy/Paste or File/Send to Word or File/Save As
<Image> won't work to export B/W images.

Best workaround I can give you is to apply a B/W color scheme to your
presentation before sending it to Word or copying the slides or saving as
images or whatever.

Actually, the best workaround might be to use Shyam Pillai's Handout Wizard.

Echo will have some workaround ideas for you. In the meanwhile, you might want to
request that MS restore this very valuable feature:

But I'm curious; do you really NEED for the graphics to be in greyscale/b&w?
Sorry if this is belaboring the obvious, but if you print to a b/w printer, the
results will be b/w, even if you feed it color. You may simply be able to ignore the
fact that it's color in Word.

If you're going to 4-color seps and need the PPT stuff to remain b/w, then 'nuff said.
That's a very different story.

It will depend on the printer you are using, but some of
them have the option to print in grayscale. My printer
has that option and it prints the color images fine.

Thank you for your suggestions. This is a feature the we
need, because of our copiers. Backgrounds stay the color
(dark blue) when I bring them over in grayscale they stay
a dark gray when printing. I need them to be blank or
white.

Aha. Gotcha. Normally, PPT swaps b/g and text color so when you print
directly from it, no problems. Once the PPT images are in Word, this ceases to
happen.

I'd definitely explain this problem to MS by following that link I posted
earlier.

I suspect you'll have to temporarily change the background manually in PPT
before doing the Send to Word.
