I have this mobo: http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3&l2=11&l3=397&model=1459&modelmenu=1

Motherboard is an Asus P5N32 E-SLI

And the Graphics card is an Nvidia geforce 7600 found here: http://www.dabs.com/productview.asp...&SearchKey=All&SearchMode=All&NavigationKey=0

And for some reason when i try to put the Graphics card in the PCI slot, it doesn't seem to fit, the Motherboard PCI slot seems to be too big for it (Both PCI express i believe)

Is it meant to fit into this larger slot?

Incompatible?

Please help =[[[[[

:D

It should fit, are you sliding the clip away [back of the PCI-E slot] before installing it?
make sure you are using the correct slot BLUE

Hey, Yes i am sliding away the clip ( i think )

And i am putting it into the Blue slot, Yet the graphics card has a very small slot part, with a division half way ish (if that makes no sense i will try to rephrase it better) And the motherboard's slot is rather large and it seems as though i am putting it where it shouldn't be? Perhaps i am paranoid but i thought that the components all fit in rather "Snug"

And i have tried turning on the pc yet all fans move apart from that of the graphics card, This isn't normal right?

Forgive my lack of computer knowledge ^^

And thanks for replying =]

Ahh i see that clip, Which isn't there on my mobo xD

But the size of the slot in that photo and on my motherboard is not the same as the one that is on the Graphics card,

Which is smaller and has a division in a different place.

The slot is more like the one i have attached (Although mine is Nvidia)

Is this a correct matchup =S

And the fan should turn on when the others do, Right?

Thanks again =]

If yours is the same as the pic it should fit:confused:

what OS you using XP > Vista?
the fan will operate when the pc boots-up, unless you have to put the drivers in off of the CD that came with the GC.
The GC will only fit one way so don`t force it into the slot.

Ooooh i see..

WEll i am building the pc, This is my old one

So i haven't got an OS yet xD

The OS is going to be windows XP home edition

And i haven't installed drivers yet, as i have no OS

I presumed that because the slot wasn't the exact shape and size for the graphics card, Plus the fact that the Fan wasn't on when i turned on the pc, was that it was incompatible/installed wrong.

So hold on, I have the graphics card inserted now, if i turn on the pc, will the fan not start untill the OS is installed or something???

Confused :S

Haha =]

Hold it:nod: me thinks you have an AGP card not a PCI-E

Can you take a photo of the one you have and post it as attachement like the other

you do have an AGP Card so it wont fit a PCI-E slot

I just checked the one you have on dabs that is a PCI-E card.
Who did you buy it off?

Sorry to take so long it was only when I went back to dabs that I noticed their big mistake

Now you may have a big problem with the other components if you have turned the power on:nod:
I dont deal with dabs for the exact same reason they are well say nothing is the best???

Didn't see this post!

Oh god..

Please say that i haven't spent £470 so that the graphics card can blow everything up!!

=[

Do you think that the graphics card may have ballsed the rest of the pc up?

I suppose i can take everything out and send it all back,

Or shall i just get the graphics card refunded and get another one???

Oh god this is bad =[

Sorry for all the questions,

Louis =]

Its possible that you may have damaged the motherboard or the PCI slot by powering up with an incorrect format card inserted, but on the other hand it may be OK - the only way to tell is by trying a correct spec card and see. No other components should be affected.

Your problem may be if the mobo is damaged is that it was you who put the wrong card in the slot - Dabs will not accept any responsibility for this other than supply the correct card - it is your responsibility to make sure it is the correct one when fitting.

However, if the mobo is indeed damaged and you don't mention what you did then you may of course be able to RMA it as being defective on installation - something of course I would not condone.

Your first action should be to get a new correct card from Dabs - then see about the rest after it arrives.

I doubt very much that you would have damaged anything, send the card back and replace with the correct version and you should boot without a problem..
