Graphical Garbage on a Radeon x700 Pro

After I install the ATI RC1 driver I get problems. At post-boot startup,
shutdown, login, logoff, user select, and UAC (User Account Control) screens
I have garbage filling the whole screen. In fact its exactly the same garbage
every time. The MS drivers do work but there is no Control Panel.

My PC's hardware is:
Intel Celeron Northwood CPU 2.0GHz 400FSB
Shuttle AV49VN ATX Motherboard (Chipsets: VIA P4X400 VT8754 N.B.; VIA VT8235
S.B.) (MS Default Drivers)
K-Byte PC2100 256MB & Kingston PC 2700 256MB RAM [Tot. 512MB]
Antec 350W Power Supply
Hitachi DiskStar 160GB EIDE Hard Drive
hp dvd740i DVD-R/RW Drive
LG 52x32x52x CD-R/RW Drive
ATI Radeon X700 PRO 256MB Video Card
Creative SoundBlaster Audigy 4 Sound Card (Creative 2.10.0000 Drivers)

So is there anyone that's having this problem and/or know of a solution?

Use the Windows drivers until ATI gets their act together. Remember, you are
using beta drivers on a less than finished operating system. Many companies
will not have competent drivers released until after Vista goes gold.

I have the same card and it won't work right in XP pro 64 or Vista 64 even
though both OS'es know which card it is, which tells me the drivers are at
fault

Same problem here, just use the Microsoft supplied drivers. No OpenGL, but
at least the OS works.

I actually didn't use ATi's drivers with Beta 2 either since my system would
hang going into standby with the ATi's drivers installed but worked just
fine with the Microsoft supplied drivers.
