Graphic Filter for Tiff in PowerPoint 2003

Ugh, I can't find any documentation or way to install a graphic filter for
tiffs in PowerPoint 2003. I had it in 2000 and used it with the Image
Importer Wizard to batch process inserting tiffs into PowerPoint. It looks
like this graphic filter is no longer supported in 2003? I tried putting the
tiffim32.flt file in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\GRPHFLT
but it didn't work. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I believe powerpoint 2003 can insert TIFs ok. It's definately supported.

But you may have to rerun setup (probably in add/remove programs in control
panel) to check it's actually installed that component. As maybe it's not
installed by default.

Generally you cannot just go dropping .flt files in a folder and expect it
to work.

Thanks, I did try and go into Change Programs and looked under the Graphics
Filters but tiff was not listed. Also in the documentation for 2000 (what I
could find) it lists tiff but in the documentation for 2003 it does not.

I also installed the Microsoft converter pack with no luck. I can call my
company help desk to see what other alternatives there might be with the
Office install CD but don't know why the tiff format would not show up in the
graphic filter list under Add/Remove programs.

I can insert tiffs ok through the insert image but the extension does not
show up when I try to use the image insert wizard plug-in I have. Dropping
the .flt in was a hmmm, nothing else is working sort of thing I don't
even know what an .flt file is.

Yipee, I emailed Shyam Pillai who created the Image Inserter
http://skp.mvps.org/index.html and he told me the registry can be edited,
just add a TIFF key under
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Graphic
Filters\Import

That worked and I'm back on my way to 200 slide presentations in five
minutes
