Graphic Card is not working...

Hi all,
My problem is that my new video card seems incompatible with WinXP Pro. But
i have checked the compability of Winfast FX5200 with the signature verify
program and there is no problem there. I cannot make it work properly! I
tried to uninstall the drivers that came with the installation cd and
downloaded the updated version from Leadtek's website. The problem is still
there... I thought that there may be a problem with my motherboard(gigabyte
BX2000+) and downloaded the latest inf files. It didnt work...
Why VgaSave is running instead of my video card?
I tried one more thing: I installed WinME instead of WinXP pro, and yes my
card is running this time! I know that there is not VgaSave in WinME. Is the
problem with this VgaSave driver or is there just a conflict between the
drivers?
I want to stay with WinXP pro, but this situation prevents me to work with it.
PLEASE HELP!!!

They said that I should check the latest drivers from Nvidia's web site. But
I had already installed an uptodate driver. I also checked the latest drivers
for Intel 440BX chipset drivers of my motherboard. The problem still exists.
I have seen a conflict between VgaSave driver and my video card. But why is
WinXP pro is using its driver(VgaSave) instead of the video card's driver? I
cannot figure it out...

I can see that there are several conflicts:
When I opened the VgaSave driver page(DisplayProperties/Adapter/Properties)
I saw that VgaSave driver has several conflicts with Intel 82443BX Pentium(r)
II processor - AGP controller. Why does it say so?

Locate and download Detonator R.I.P (www.guru3d.com). Then install it.
Uninstall all nVidia/Winfast video card drivers but do not reboot when told
to do so. Run Detontator R.I.P so as to remove all/any left-over traces of
the nVidia drivers. Rboot and let XP install the standard driver. Then,
installthe up to date nVidia drivers (71.???).

It seems that you may have a problem with left-over nVidia card drivers.

Not sure which drivers you downloaded but I had trouble running the
latest version..66.93. I am currently using driver ver. 45.23 which
seemed to work the best with my nvidia card. If you cannot find these
drivers, email me and I will email to you and you can try them.

Actually I formatted my hard disk after I first recognized the problem and I
downloaded the latest driver(ver. 71.84). But here it is...the same problem!
I tried to run WinXP Pro in VGA mode, but it did not work, too. I dont think
that the problem is with the driver of my video card(winfast FX5200). I am
just stuck with it...

Have you installed mottherboard drivers? At least the AGP drivers?? You
won't get a functioning graphics card without it..

I have seen a similar problem with an old vga-card on a difffent mainboard.
When the driver isn't able to initialize the card the VgaSave driver kicks
in just to provide some video (slow).

I have a BX2000 running here but with a simple Elsa 32MB AGP4x card.
Just to make sure BIOS settings aren't interfering set BIOS (my version:
FAa) as follows:
+ Bios Feature Setup
- VGA Boot From: AGP
- PCI/VGA Palette Snoop: Disabled
- Assign IRQ For VGA: Enabled
+ Chipset Feature Setup
- AGP Aperature Size (MB): 64 or 128
+ PnP/PCI Configuration
- PNP OS Installed: Yes
- Resources Controlled By: Auto

Reboot and check wether VgaSave is still in control.

If so, try disabling all Shadowing and Caching in BIOS:
+ Bios Feature Setup
- Video BIOS shadow: Disabled
+ Chipset Feature Setup
- System BIOS cacheable: Disabled
- Video BIOS cacheable: Disabled
- Video RAM cacheable: Disabled

Reboot and as above.
When solved try re-enabling shadowing / caching one by one.

If problem remains:
Try lowering Hardware Acceleration one step at a time.
Try older Nvidia drivers (Make sure old drivers are thoroughly removed).
Try card at a similar friend's PC.

If problem still remains the card might by faulty or it draws more current
than the mainboard was designed for.

I did the changes in bios, but the problem exists. I tried the old versions
of Nvidia drivers(also made sure that the previous version is totally removed
because I used the driver cleaner PE), but the result was the same. I said
that my graphic card(winfast FX5200) is perfectly running under WinME.
Neither the motherboard(gigabyte BX2000+) nor the video card is faulty. The
problem is the drivers that should be working under WinXP. I still have that
VgaSave driver running instead of Nvidia drivers. It seems an endless fight
between me and the computer, because I tried everything that was mentioned as
solutions here. Is there anyone who has an alternate solution?

I Had The Same Problem, I'ts The BIOS What You Have To Do Is Open Up Your PC
And Take The Battery Out Then Put It Back In This Will Go Back To Default
Settings And Will Def Work!

But why do I have to put the battery out? Do you mean power supply by 'the
battery' or what? I have updated my Bios and adjusted to the default settings
many times in Bios Setup. Are there other settings which you cannot adjust to
default in Bios Setup program?

I am beginning to think that WinXP has a definite problem here, becase my
system configuration is perfectly running under WinME which has not any
VgaSave drivers. I installed many drivers for my video card including the
latest ones(Winfast FX5200). I have updated bios and chipset drivers of
motherboard (GA BX2000+). I tried to configure BIOS settings of motherboard,
but unfortunately VgaSave is still running. I am really tired and thinking to
post this hardware problem to Microsoft!

I Have A BX2000 Motherboard And Also Have The Same Problem With My XFX Nvidia
Geforce FX 5200! I Found Out Just Now! That This Card Is Not Compatible With
This Motherboard So I Am Getting A New Motherboard Which Is Very Cheap Around
(£30-£50)

But the technical support people from Gigabyte didnt mention this compability
problem. They said that the card supports only AGP 1.0 and FX5200 requires
AGP 2.0. This seems like a problem, but I managed to make the card work
perfeclty under WinME! I just cant understand why it is not working only
under WinXP!

IF YOU PROVIDE the drivers that MAKE it work in WinXP and it will work.
It has NOTHING to do with WinXP and EVERYTHING to do with the drivers
that mak it work.

Yes, you are right. But as I said BEFORE, I tried nearly all of NVIDIA
drivers that support Winfast FX5200, but none of them worked(I was sure that
I had uninstalled the previous drivers before I began to install the new
ones). I tried everything that might cause incompability! It should be a
driver problem, but current NVIDIA drivers cannot solve the problem..

I am having the same problem now, with the same graphic card. ALthough I've
managed to try every single option to get rid of the VGASave thing, none did
it... BUt what is very strange is that I have a 2nd XP installation and in
that one it works fine. No problem !!!But in the other one, that had a nvidia
card before, it seems to have a huge question... Anyone knows a Plan B ?
