Got SP2 CD in 5 days. Fresh install uneventful!

Installed XP Pro, mobo NForce drivers(to get internet), then SP2, then all
the rest of my stuff. No problems. Neat!!!

Hi,

Unfortunately, not all people know how to slipstream, also
not all people have a CD burner as well. If its a fresh
install, its not that troublesome to install SP2 after the
new install.

IIRR I saw a post from her on this very topic a few days ago, regarding an
Autostreamer that does the slipstreaming for you. Which is why I asked.
Also, I have seen cases where Windows with SP2 installed slipstreamed from
the outset has posed problems - Which haven't existed when it has been
installed after SP1. Thought this might be one of those cases.

You did it the safe way. I have never seen it fail when done in the sequence
you used.

Why didn't you use a slipstreamed Windows XP SP2 CD for your installation?

I did when it first came out. BAD quite a few things simply wouldn't
install - no message, nothing.

I have had no problems installing XP, then installing SP2, then all my
stuff.

Actually I have had two probs, both relating to adsubtract.
1 can't activate it.
2 when I uninstall it looped images like weather maps don't work.

So I am in the middle of yet another total install cause unfortunately I
had put adsubtract on before taking the first Ghost image. Rats!

But I am amazed at how easily SP2 goes!

3 posts in 45 min! (see my answer to your 2:44 post - it didn't work.)

What's life without a little risk, eh? I'm going for a slipstreamed clean
install when I'm free, so I took particular interest in this post.

Sorry about that. OE crashed while I posted the first message, so I
assumed it hadn't got posted. It's strange that a slipstreamed SP2 install
doesn't work that well, while a slipstreamed SP1 install was a breeze.
Considering XP disks will officially be sold slipstreamed in a while, this
is not necessarily a good sign.

can't say you weren't warned!)

The basic install went fine, but when I started instaling my stuff, about
10 to 20% wouldn't install - no messages or anything.

Good luck!
