Hi All
My daughter sent me 2 photos. I received one but the second was returned to
her because the picture was too big. (am guessing that they were sent in 2
separate emails). Appreciate any help, if any, on this problem.
OS Winxphomeed OE6 6-1/2 GB free space
Thank you.

Ask your daughter to resize the image
files before sending them.

In Win XP...if you right click an image file
and from the menu...choose...Send To /
Mail Recipient...you should receive a dialog
that asks if you would like to resize the
image. Click...OK...and a new message
should appear with the resized image
attached.

Also...if your daughter is running Windows
XP the following free PowerToy makes
resizing very easy.

OK, go to the following link and download
and install: ImageResizer.exe

http://tinyurl.com/36n

Then you can open any folder that contains
images and you will have an option to resize.
Just right click the selected image files and
choose Resize Pictures from the menu. You
can select one image or a whole group.

The program will place the resized copies in
the folder with your originals.
(Tip: *Never* overwrite your originals)

BTW...when resizing if you go to...Advanced
Button / Custom...and enter 640 in each field...
that will be a good size for e-mail purposes.

It sounds like your ISP has an email file size limit. This can usually be
gotten around. Your daughter's email program likely has options that setup a
scheme that sends larger attached files in segments. These can be
re-combined at your end and end up as the complete file or picture.

To John,
I am new to this newsgroup thing so forgive me if this is misplaced. I was
having a hard time trying to find where to go to either find the answer to or
ask my question. When I saw the part of your reply to Franktee, the part
where it says "right click, send to/mail recipent" I thought you could help
me too.

When I right click on a photo, either in a file or a picture in an email I
received and want to send to mail recipient (I forget if one or both), it
asks me if I want to send the picture smaller, I click "ok", but then nothing
happens. What should happen? A new window does not open up. What happened?
Did I send something out into cyberspace? Is my request being held in a
temporary folder somewhere? Please HELP.

Maybe you can help me too, John.
This is my first time here, I hope I'm in the right place.
In regards to "right click an image file, choose 'send to/ mail recipient.",
I am having issues with this. When I do this, it asks me if I want to send
the image smaller, I click 'ok', but then NO new dialog box opens up! Where
did my request go? Did I do something wrong? Could it be my settings? Please
help.

Try this, maybe it will restore the option:

go to...Start / Run and type:

"REGSVR32 SHIMGVW.DLL"
(without the quotes)(Yes, there's
a space between 2 and S)

Click...OK.

A dialog box should report the following:

"DllRegisterServer in SHIMGVW.DLL succeeded"

Also...

If you are using Outlook Express as your e-mail
program...maybe the following will be useful:

I cannot guarantee it, but the following method may work:

How do I make OE my default mail client?

Go to...Start / Run...and enter the following:
"C:\PROGRAM FILES\OUTLOOK EXPRESS\MSIMN.EXE" /reg<
(copy paste everything between the > < but not including the
(But first...Check the path to msimn.exe to make sure it is
correct)

Click...OK...

Then open Internet Explorer and go to...Tools / Internet
Options /
Programs tab...and set OE as the default mail (and news)
program.

Good luck.

John, outlook is set as my default mail and newsgroup clients. Should i still
do the first part of your reply, the part that starts with 'start/run, and
typing in the REGSVR32....' thing? By the way, what does that do? What does
it stand for?

All I can say is try it...

What the command does is re-register
the shimgvw.dll file.
