Google search box results?

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this question. If it's not, I
apologize, but hope that someone can point me in the right direction.

When I search for a file on my computer using the search box that comes up
above the Start button, I get inconsistent results. By that, I mean this: I
have a particular Word document that contains, let's say, the words "apple"
and "banana." If I search for the word "apple," that Word document will be
shown in the results. But if I search for the word "banana," that Word
document will not be shown in the results.

This anomaly makes me doubt all of the other searches I do.

FWIW, the computer's been in service for about a month, and the particular
document has been there the whole time, so I don't see how it hasn't been
indexed yet. Besides, why would the search find one word, and not the other.
It's obviously searching that document.

I've come across a few specific words that the search doesn't discover in
that particular document. I really have no way of knowing if other documents
act this way with Search--it's just that I know that this particular one
does.

Thanks.

The search box in the Start menu is limited to: Programs, Favorites and
History, Files and Communications. It shows only as much as the Start menu
size will allow. What you need to use is: Windows Logo Key + F. For example,
if I search for "ex" in the search box in the start menu, I get about 25
entries. If I use Windows Logo Key + F, I get about 5,000 entries.

Not really sure why you are having problems because I tried the same search
results with my computer and apple and banana showed up so you might have a
problem with you indexing and if the file has been on the drive for a month
it should have been indexed by know. One thing you might do is right click
the folder you have the file in and on the general tab click the advanced
tab and and make sure that Index This Folder For Faster Searching is
checked. Hope this will help out and have a good upcoming year.
