Good synchronization software?q

Roberto Fernandes

Hello all,

First of all, excuse for the english.... I will try to explain my
problem.....

I've been using a sync software for a while, to sync two computers
between a network. But the problem is that now ONE of the computers
will stay in home... and the other, in my work... And I have my laptop
(a third computer...)

The directory that need to be synchronized is about to 10gb in size
(and growing...).... And I need to sync them to a USB stick with only
4gb.... now, you will ask me.... how? Simple....

I need a software that keep in the USB stick ONLY the changed files...
AND when I sync the USB stick with all computers, the software copy's
the files, and then delete them from the USB stick...

Can you understand?? With my english, I know, it's a little
complicated....

Thanks for any help!

I suggest you type
"synchronisation software"
(with the quotes) in a Google search box. I got more than
28,000 hits.

Since you want to synchronise several computers, you probably
have to delete the flash disk files manually or by means of a shortcut
that you create yourself.

My suggestion would be to invest in a pocket sized portable hard drive such
as a Western Digital Passport (see link) and carry a full backup with you at
all times (rather than incremental files on a USB stick).

My wife runs a small business and carries a small portable hard drive onto
which she backs up everything daily from the server via Second Copy 7
(incremental backups). She actually has two hard drives which she rotates
daily (Mon, Wed, Fri) and (Tue, Thu, Sat).

Pegasus,
I already did that search.... That´s why I´m here. Is impossible to
find something like what I need.

John,
I have a portable hard drive like that... but in less than one year
start to have problems... windows not detecting, data looses.... That
´s why I´m looking for a software to sync with a USB flash disk (with
4gb). If I don´t found one.... I will probably buy another portable
hard drive....

Hans Mull,
I have hear about Rsync.... But far as I know, there is no software
like rsync running in windows.... Or there is only the server and not
the client... I don´t remember.... Anyway, keep the same problem.
Rsync Synchronize and KEEP the files on the disk.... I need a software
to synchronize the computers, and remove the synchronized files from
the USB disk....

I found SynchronizeIt! (http://www.grigsoft.com/wndsync.htm).... they
have a option called packages.... but the problem is that it works
well only with 2 machines... if I use 3, start to be complicated and
not secure.....

Sorry for the english.... maybe a little complicated for you to
understand what I say.....
