Good Site to Download AVG

B

Brad

Hi,

I have a dial-up connection. I can't afford high speed.

I tried to download AVG anti-virus software (45MB) from the following site
below, but after 1.5 hours, a problem occurred with the download.

http://www.download.com/AVG-Anti-Vi...42.html?part=dl-AVGAntiVir&subj=dl&tag=button

Note: I did this very early one morning, but the download rate was 30kbs!
Normally, I can download around 53kbs early in the morning.

A Google search found so many places to download AVG, that I was
overwhelmed. What is a good site to download AVG?

Thanks in advance, Brad

Before you type your password, credit card number, etc.,
be sure there is no active keystroke logger (spyware) in your PC.

Consider Avast. (About 23MB). I have used both and it's only my opinion, but
I prefer Avast over AVG.

Choose Custom Installation and under Resident Protection, uncheck: Internet
Mail and Outlook/Exchange. You do not want e-mail scanning enabled if you
use Outlook Express, and it only slows things down more for those on dial-up
and does not affect your protection.

You don't have much choice. 45 meg is 45 meg. Some sites are better
but.... I'd think about a friend with highspeed that can put it on a
thumb drive for you. That or thinking about a cheap DSL 19$ deal or
something. But then, you're probably out of range and HAVE thought
about it.

This is avg's server and now download.com.

It might be faster from them?

AVG's site would be my first choice but get and use a download manager that
can resume broken downloads.

This is sound advice. I go further, and would recommend use of a
download helper even with a high-speed connection.

Why ask HERE? Where you get the virus software, or even what virus
program you want to use, has NOTHING to do with XP. Heck, AVG is not
even provided or sold BY Microsoft.

Ask elsewhere

Piggybacking on what Big Al said, you have to sign up for a year, but
Verizon has 768k service for $12.99 for the 1st 6 months, and $17.99 for 2nd
six. You can get it online. And in Florida, (at least in Melbourne) you can
get Bell South 768 service, now ATT, for only $10/month for 12 months...but
once again, you have to go online for it. Now $10 is probably what yo0u're
paying for dialup.
