:-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

You ****ing idiot! Did you even bother to read the damn article? They're
referring to ink CARTRIDGES, not the actual ink.

re: "Seiko Epson has scored a victory against a major third-party
manufacturer of ink cartridges that Epson had claimed was infringing on
some of its patents."

I have yet to run into a moron such as you in any other ng.
Get lost.

Follow that story through to
http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=1093&e=2&u=/pcworld/20050614/tc_pcworld/121377
and you''ll see that:

"Seiko Epson claims that certain cartridges made by Arcor, of Nantes,
France, and Multi-Union Trading, of Hong Kong, infringe on several of its
cartridge-related patents. "

Nothing to do with the ink.

Use Epson ink. You paid a lot for the printer and you do not want to
damage it.
I'm sure if you live long enough you might just get a clue, but you
haven't managed it yet...

Alan -- I have an Epson 2200 and had the same problem of roller marks on the
prints when I switched to Costco paper. It seemed to be the combination of
slow drying pigment ink and Costco paper. Problem solved by using dye based
ink -- much better colours (no muddy looking pigment colours). It the prints
last as long as I do then I'll be happy. The only fading I have seen is with
prints made by an old HP about 7 years ago. I have an Epson 1200, 2200, R200
and 870, all with CIS systems.
cheers

If that is the case you are better off with a Canon i9900 and Costco paper.
