God, Vista is slow.

A good example of a 'step sideways' is the NEW (not) Windows Mail. They
just put a little makeup on OE and renamed it.

Yes - Vista is slower than XP.

We can through the 'hardware specs' issue out.

I have a, very recent, 'clean' install of XP pro on one partition on this
system and a brand new 'clean' install of Vista Home Premium on another
partition. There can be NO claiming that the hardware is different - it's
the very same computer running either OS. Vista is noticeable slower at
most things related to the OS. When running other (installed) applications
they seem to run at about the same speed under either OS.

I'm not sure it's Vista that's causing all the HD activity. Last fall when
IE7 was released there was a plethora of complaints about huge increases in
HD activity upon installing/using IE7.

We can also throw it out!! :)

Easy, do a NG search for kirk jim/jim kirk/just jim/just kirk and you will
find many topics where people have provided factual links to your incorrect
ramblings and unjustified opinions.

Unjustifed opinions? That's a new one. What the heck is that suppose
to mean? Hint: Everbody has opinions about everything. Not surprising
yours are often out in left field and rarely backed up with facts, but
heck, you do have a right to express your opinions, just like
everybody else does, which does seem to be Justin's main beef, others
HAVING a different opinion, and expressing it here. Justin's main
problem is he can't play nice in any thread. It always is his way or
the hiway. Very juvenile conduct.

Hahahaha! Leave it to adam to come into the conversation once jim kirk/kirk
jim/just jim/just kirk turns it to crap.

Classic! You wont find him in the meaningful part of the convo.

Still waiting on those specs.

The only thing you prove here is that you have major driver issues. Why:

There are TOO MANY cases in this NG alone where people upgrade from XP on
Vista (SAME HARDWARE) and have either SAME speed or MORE speed.

We still need the specs so it's compatibility can be researched and
hopefully pin point the problem.

You call A complete redesign of the mail store, a little makeup? Hardly!

You call Windows Mail a application?

Seeing as how it's an application....yes. What do you call it? A pizza?

No one said it wasn't full of bugs. Hell, OE was full of bugs until 5.0.

The OP gave enough onfo... score of 5.1, 2.13 Duo, 2Gb RAM. Drivers,
indexing, sub standard video card?? It doesn't sound like the OP is asking
for help. Merely expressing an opinion. That's OK isn't it?

Most of your posts are defensive and "kibbitzing" and add very little to
the threads they're in. You seem to attract jabs and left hooks (it's even
entertaining... sometimes).

I'm saving your reply to hit you over the head with in the future.
Justin admits Vista is full of bugs. Quite the admission for a fan
boy.

god doesn't care
Between sending the world plagues and giving us GW Bush to rule the "free
world", it's obvious that god has a wry sense of humour. Add to that the
fact that he's allowed Microsoft to become the largest software company in
the world and is suckering so many into "upgrading" to Vista, is proof
positive. Whether god cares or not, he certainly keeps amusing himself.
It's quite a laugh when a woman gets turned into a pillar of salt, but even
more of a laugh watching Wintards spend most of their computer time
fighting off the effects of malware and spambots, defragging their Sea
Drives and waiting for the next upgrade Tuesday to screwup their systems.

Love and Kisses,
Doris

P4 Duo 2.13 GHZ 2GB Ram. Score 5.1

I just mean on ever machine I have ever seen Vista run on, is
disappointing.

It is not the HUUUUUUUGE leap I was lead to believe.
So much for the ability of marketing to so easily lead to self-destructive
beliefs. You've now learned how huge corporations manipulate the consumer.
You've learned a valuable lesson in life my son. You should be thanking god
for this experience. Hopefully it has made you a little wiser.

Love and Kisses,
