Go->News Disappears

After installing Office 2003 Pro and starting Outlook, I
added the News button to the MenuBar per instructions in
Help. I restarted the PC, but when I clicked on Go-
News, a pop explorer window opened showing some ../1033
folder. I closed it and the News menu option
disappeared. I repaired Office - no good. I unstalled
Office and reinstalled it - still no good. I'm wondering
if I have to reimage the OS (XP Pro). Is this a known
bug with Outlook 2003?

To get the News command back, go back to the Programs tab in Control Panel |
Internet Options and change the default newsreader to Outlook Express. If
OE prompts you to make it your default newsreader the next time you launch
it, clear the "Always perform this check..." box and then click the No
button.

You may need to reset the Menu Bar and/or restart Outlook and/or reboot your
machine in order to complete the process. Not everyone is reporting success
with this method, but try it and see what happens. If all else fails, you
can always create a desktop shortcut to Outlook Express and include the
/outnews switch -- that gives you the same result as accessing the
newsreader via the News command in Outlook.

To add on what Russ said;
If the reset doesn't work you can force the reset by renaming outcmd.dat to
outcmd.old. You'll loose all Toolbar customizations then so only do this if
the first method failed.

Anoter way to go is to import a registry key so you can select Outlook again
as the Newsreader.
