"WHAT IS GNU/DOS?
GNU/DOS is a distribution of FreeDOS which includes the following:
-Several core FreeDOS packages
-The DJGPP development environment with many GNU programs -The Arachne Web
browser, e-mail client, and file manager -The OpenGEM graphical user
interface with many GEM programs -The vim editor for software developers
-GPL, GPL with DJGPP exceptions, LGPL, vim, and public domain licensed
source code for all of the above
GNU/DOS is very well suited for:
-Web and e-mail (no Java or other "plugins") through a dial-up modem (not
a "Winmodem") or Ethernet connection -Classic DOS and console UNIX
applications and games -Development (using the GNU Compiler Collection)
-And more!
WARNING
GNU/DOS is far from stable, because the software included with GNU/DOS is
far from stable. Programs designed for MS-DOS may not work properly. Also,
software designed for UNIX may not compile perfectly with DJGPP or may
require changes to the code.
GNU/DOS is also completely unsupported, as I have no time to support it.
Use at your own risk! GNU/DOS users should have a basic knowledge of both
DOS and UNIX."
