Gmail IMAP issue: folder cannot be selected, nor email deleted

I have a number of issues using Outlook 2007 with Gmail's IMAP--
basically, not usable (thunderbird and windows live mail work well
however).

This is the biggest problem:
When trying to delete an email, I frequently get this message:
The folder 'Inbox' [or other folder name] cannot be selected. This
may be because of a limitation of your IMAP server or the folder may
have been deleted or moved.

I do not have this issue with the other email clients mentioned--only
with Outlook 2007. Is there a fix, or a problem I should check with my
configuration? Thanks.
