Globally make all rows As same height/ column As, Bs, Cs (etc) samewidth throughout workbook?

They're doing their level best here to drive me crazy <g>. I have a
spreadsheet with about 18 sheets. Plus I must compare that to another
one with a similar amount of sheets. Trouble is, the settings for
both _and_ for the individual sheets are literally all over the
place! It's hard to get a standardized printout because of this.
I'll sort them all which will help but what will do the most good,
too, would be to have the columns of identical size as well as row A
being the same size for all sheets.

The only global change function I know is the page setup when you
select all the sheets and change the settings that way. This has
helped. Labelling the printouts with the filename, tab name and date
and time of print has been a big help. But The rest would make it
much easier to work with.

Also, I don't mean everything all at once, I mean to do this column by
column as the column widths will vary ... unless there's way to
specify all at once that column A should be 5, col B = 21, col C = 15,
col D = 17, etc., for every sheet in the workbook. [Only the header
row needs to be adjusted (to 45) as the rest are autofit.]

Is there some way to globally do this? It would save me a day's work
and I could get on to the important part of the task they've charged
me with which is to actually standardize the data.

Thanks! :blush:D

I answered my own question! <g>

I kept grappling with this and fighting and fighting and I stumbled
upon answer. See, it's only been in my mind to use "Select All
Sheets" for about 6 months. I stumbled upon it I think in this ng.
But you know how it is, it takes you some time sometimes to remember
to incorporate a new skill. Well, this one rocks more than I even
knew!! In desperation, since I did 2 columns -one and fixed cell
alignment in two cells in _each_ sheet MANUALLY, one by one, I tried
selecting all the sheets and trying to apply the formatting to all.
Yes, it is tricky. When you first step away from the tabs and click
to select, or if you select first, then select the tabs, you often
lose the sheet selection. But I figured out through trial and error
how to retain the selection and select all the sheets. As long as you
retain the selection, once you select all the sheets, any formatting
you apply gets replicated throughout the sheets.

As inevitably happens to all of us when we find a shortcut, it breaks
my heart to remember how many hours throughout the years I've wasted
with individual sheet format changes <sigh>. However, NEVER AGAIN!!

So this one seems to be resolved.

Cheers. :blush:D

If you select all sheets and make your formatting changes on the active
sheet, these changes will be replicated on every sheet.

If the print settings are (part) of the problem...

Each Excel sheet has its own print setup options (orientation,
margins, headers and footers, and so on). These options are specified
in the Page Setup dialog box, which you access using the File, Page
Setup command.

When you add a new sheet to a workbook, it contains the default page
setup setting. Here's an easy way to transfer the settings from one
worksheet to additional worksheets:

1. Activate the sheet that contains the desired setup info. This is
the "source" sheet.
2. Select the "target" sheets. Press Ctrl and click the sheet tabs
of the sheets you want to update with the settings from the source
sheet.
3. Select File, Page Setup and click OK.

The Page Setup settings of the source sheet will be transferred to all
of the target sheets.
