glitches and errors when utilized memory hits 76% of 4GB (x86 vist

Has anyone else run into this issue?

I have 4GB of memory installed with the board.. i've recently had to switch
back to Vista x86 from x64 for the time being.. as a result i've noticed that
the system memory in the properties of computer seems to be around 3326MB..
which I guess is about the max to be expected for an x86 OS?

Anyone with higher values here?

The real problems kick in if memory used gets to around 76% or 2.4GB.. for
instance.. right clicking computer and doing properties reveals.. errors
related to class not registered.. clicking around in Outlook results in
Outlook errors, icons in the quick launch become "new document" style icons,
programs wont open..

At one point, just clicking reply to an outlook email resulted in:
"word has lost data due to bad network connection or missing floppy vista
memory"

I also ended up with some apps reporting: "Not enough storage is available
to process this command"...

I should mention that this particular instance of issues was occuring while
i was running an acronis with normal priority, but 100% cpu utilization the
whole time, however.. I HAVE had these issues without a similar app running
with normal CPU utilization combined with 76% or higher utilization of
memory...

I'm at a loss here...

Has anyone else run into this as well?

Thanks

Hi,

With the 32-bit version of Vista, the maximum address space is 4GB. Some of
this is used for the system hardware, the remainder is assigned to memory
space. What you see is the portion not reserved by the hardware (generally
between 2.7 and 3.3 GB).

As to the problem, have your run the memory diagnostic yet? Have you altered
the virtual memory settings?

Some of your 4GB address space must be used to access video RAM, BIOS,
etc. See http://members.cox.net/slatteryt/RAM.html
