gigabyte x1600xt -- dual-link?

I have been searching desparately for definitive information on whether
the gigabyte x1600xt, which has their silent-pipe cooling, supports
dual-link DVI monitors (i.e, only the 30" monitors, such as Apple
Cinema 30" or the new DELL 30").

Unfortunately, ATI and their manufacturers do not make it easy to
figure this one out. The generic ATI marketing info speaks about how
AVIVO has dual-link DVIs, and has a few nice drawings of cross-bars.
However, the specific third-party manufacturers do not seem to say
anything on this issue, at all. [and no, I do not want a generic ATI
card {noisy} or an X1800 {noisy+overkill}.]

So, has anyone tried to hook up this gigabyte card to a 30" DVI
monitor, and succeeded driving it at the native resolution? if not,
have other people tried other, say, x1300 cards in dual-link dvi mode
and succeeded?

Sincerely,

/iaw

The link you gave pointed to a Powercolor card. Powercolor copies ATi's
documentation verbatim, so it is no help, either...

According to the HIS web site ( http://www.hisdigital.com/ ), every HIS
Radeon X1--- card has dual-link DVI, including this $97 passively-cooled
X1300 vanilla:

This HIS X1600XT with a quiet VGA Silencer has two dual-link DVI ports:

If Gigabyte sticks to the reference board design, it should be dual-link
equipped as well.
