Getting rid of Google search

I recently downloaded what I thought was a tool to view a moving photo of a
scene. I was able to view the scene, but additionally, my classic Internet
search was removed and in its place was Google search. I cannot get rid of
it. Please help.

What "tool", what "scene"? Without meaning to hurt your feelings, if you
downloaded a "free viewer" from a pr0n site, your computer has probably
been infected with viruses and/or malware.

Go through these malware removal steps systematically:

You are an IDIOT. I too have that on my desktop and have never visited a
PORN site in my life. Maybe you should sit down with your mom and dad and
have another talk.

Thank you for your kind words, Mr. Wild. I'll remember them.

Only someone that has experience in what happens when you go to a porn site
would respond the way you did. Thinking that others are like you is lame to
say the least. The rude response was ignorance that goes well over your
head I'm sure.

It was a landscape scene with moving water. To access it, I clicked on this
link: http://java.sun.com/getjava/
Shortly afterwards, I discovered that Google search had taken over and I
could no longer use classic Internet search.

Best advice I can give you is to do a system restore, and
hope the system rewinds to a time BEFORE your problem
started.

Failing that, you might do a look up on the web for a copy
of Norton System Works 2003. Not 2004, not 2005, not 2006.
Norton System Works 200THREE.

Load Go Back.

That one utility will resolve 99.9 % of your malware issues.

Good luck!

When you suggested I might have gone to a "pr0n" site, I didn't know what you
meant. Now that I read the rest of the replies, I see you meant a porn site.
No, that is not anything that I would do. This link was sent to me in an
email.

I had a similar thing happen but I like the added features so far. What
don't you like about it?

Why do you recommend Norton Systemworks 2003 over the newer versions?

Because he doesn't know what he's talking about. I wouldn't follow any
of Talahasee's advice if I were you.

I just downloaded JAVA, at the link you showed in your post. I seem to
remember that there was a box that you could ALSO install Google Search
Engine or not.. I unticked the Download Google Search Engine. I think that
you may have left the default to dl Google S.E.

And that ranks as being dumber than going to a porn site. Haven't you
learned that you shouldn't open file attachments unless you're 100% certain
about the attachment and EXPECTING a particular file from someone you know?
It's that kind of behaviour that opens up your computer and other computers
on the Net to malicious software/attacks. Now you're going to have to find
out how to clean up the mess.

Best of luck ... not for your sake, but for everyone else that connects to
the Net and is forced to have to continually deal with Windows users that
act irresponsibly and in so doing leave others vulnerable to all this kind
of crapware.

The OP did not get infected by opening something that should not have been
opened. This was an honest oversight that many including myself have made.
The answer and fix is in another post. You that are so quick to chastise to
a point or vulgarity and pure ignorance is unsurpassed.

I finally discovered the remedy for restoring Classic Internet Search. I just
didn't know the right words to use when looking through the Help index. I
stumbled on the answer in the index when I clicked on "Search pages,
restoring." This showed me the following steps:
In Internet Explorer, click Tools, click Internet Options, click Programs
Tab, Click Reset web setting button.
