Getting program settings from old install

Guest

Hi everyone,
I had a problem with an xp upgrade from home to pro. I ended up having to do
a new install, but I installed the new XP in Windows2. Now I still have the
Old Windows directory, so I was wondering if there was any program that I
could get the Program Settings out of the old registry and copy it to the new
one. I'm hoping that I don't have to reinstall all the apps. Please help.
Thanks Michael

Well actually thier is no "upgrade" from home to xp pro,the upgrade
is for older windows OS....As microsoft states,"You must perform a
clean installation"
when switching from home to pro.

Hogwash from the king of hogwash. Put up or shut up Andy, where does
Microsoft say you can't upgrade from Home to Pro?
The link below confirms that you CAN upgrade from Home to Pro.
Never take any advice from Andrew E.

If you've done a clean install you will have to reinstall apps.
You cannot copy these from on installation to another - except in the case
of some generally older apps
