For Outlook:

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HA102225181033.aspx

If your version is older than OL2003, you'll need to set up POP3/SMTP.

For Outlook Express:

<http://windowslivehelp.com/solution...ail-account-to-microsoft-outlook-express.aspx>

The POP3/SMTP settings should be similar in the earlier versions of Outlook.

MSN/Windows Live has been mass mailing warnings since last June. At least
one per month since then.

Pat,

Thank you for your reply. I am not using Outlook Express. I have been using
Outlook 2007 for a couple of years to access my hotmail account and then all
of a sudden (yesterday) neither my office or my home computer can access my
account. I am running Windows XP Professional, Service pack three, and
Outlook 2007 SP 2.

The link posted and the information still applies - you need either to
install the Outlook Connector or set up your Hotmail as a POP account....

Norm,

Thanks for the information. Regarding the mass mailings, I am guilty of not
reading, I will from this point forward, thanks for all of your help.

Hi I have done all the work that I am supposed to do. Go into outlook and
open up a new email account and put in pop3.live.com etc. Nothing is
helping me. I have outlook 2002 and I am quite content to stay with outlook
2002. help?

i can open up old emails, but I cannot open up new ones and I am not
receiving new emails. I have to go to hotmail to read them and I prefer my
calender etc with outlook. thank you.

A POP3 account has to follow some explicit instructions for setup. Use port
995 and SSL (I only know Oulook Express, which isn't the same thing as
Outlook; but OE sets the port number when "SSL" is checked in the box). And
you have to enter your username as your full email address (the 'live.com'
serves are handling three different domains, so need to know the domain name
part of the email address), and password. And keep in mind: POP3 is not a
synchronizing protocol. It can only download the Inbox. So you won't get
your online folders from the server.
