Getting disconnected from my domain

When I log into my domain using my domain id (cb13425) it's associated with
myname John Smith, so when I log in I see my name 'John Smith' on top of my
start menu.
After sometime my name vanishes from the start menu and I see my id on that
(cb13425) and so after this happens I am thinking I am disconnected from my
domain and then I am not able to print on my printers access share dirves on
my domain............. nothing

I checked my event viewer and it had couple of application related
errors......

User --> NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
Error --> Windows cannot obtain the domain controller name for your computer
network. (The specified domain either does not exist or could not be
contacted. ). Group Policy processing aborted.

User --> N/A
Error --> Automatic certificate enrollment for local system failed to
contact the active directory (0x8007054b). The specified domain either does
not exist or could not be contacted. Enrollment will not be performed.

User --> N/A
Information --> wuaueng.dll (1564) SUS20ClientDataStore: The database
engine stopped the instance (0).

User --> N/A
Information --> wuauclt (1564) The database engine stopped.

Does anyone know if these errors/warnings got to do with my problem, if yes
how can I correct it?

Thank you,

I have selected "Obtain DNS Server address automatically"
I dont know if that answeres your question.

It does answer the question because it is the wrong setting. You want
your workstation's DNS to only point to the server. Put the server's IP
address in for DNS.

I have selected "Obtain DNS Server address automatically"

This tells me you have DHCP handing out, at least, DNS entries.

With AD you must have a DNS server for your AD domain. It does not
necessarily have to be your server but usually it is. Your clients must
point to the DNS server set up for the AD domain. Pointing AD clients to
another server like your ISP's DNS server will result in long log in times,
clients dropping off the network, group policy problems.

What you need to do is find out if/where your DNS server for your AD domain
is. Then find out if your DHCP server is giving your clients that IP address
only. Make sure the only IP addresses your clients get for DNS are DNS
server(s) for your AD domain.

run ipconfig /all on a client and note the DNS entries. Do they correspond
to DNS servers set up for your AD domain?

We use DHCP and so the option "Select DNS automatically" is selected.
But there are like 2-3 guys who are having this problem.
When I see the following error in my event viewer .....

Windows cannot obtain the domain controller name for your computer network.
(The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted. ).
Group Policy processing aborted.

I think this has something to with my machine not reaching the Domain
Controller, and you think that this is because my machine not able to reach
DNS.
But then everyone should have this problem not couple of guys.

Let me know what you think,

Your machine MUST find the SRV (server) resource records in DNS to find the
DC.

Something is going on with these 2 or 3 computers. Go to a computer that is
working correctly and run ipconfig /all and note the IP address listed for
DNS. Then test one of the problem computers by selecting "use the following
DNS server" and manually enter the DNS addresses you noted on a working
machine.

Test

ok here is what is going on, as we are a big company the team which manages
our domain, wont allow us to add a DNS entry into there DNS table for our
domain.
So my network admin told that a workaround what he does is, he adds those
entries or something like that in lmhost file.
Couple of days back our network adming wanted to try something so renamed
lmhost.sam to lmhost because I was having like lot of problems of me getting
disconnected from the domain.

Bottom line our DNS server does not have a entry of our domain name.....does
this got to do anything with my problem.
What troubles is, why only 3-4 computers are having this problem and
moreover I was not having this problem until now, the moment I formatted my
hard drive and reinstalled I am stuck with this problem.
