Get Mail Merge Toolbar automatically in Word 2002 ?

In Word 2000, when I opened an existing mail merge document, I would
first be asked to locate the data store (if moved) and then Word would
pop up the document with the Mail Merge toolbar automatically
displayed. The toolbar would disappear when a non-mail merge doc was
opened.

In Word 2002, I have to manually turn on the Mail Merge Toolbar even
after locating the data source. Once it's on, it stays on (like any
other toolbar) and I have to manually shut it off.

Is there some way to get it to work automatically again ?

Thanks,

No, unfortunately. I have major issues with the person who redesigned
the mail merge interface for Word 2002...

You can get some of the functionality back using macros. Popping up the
toolbar is simple enough (see the Word 2002/2003 section of my website's
Mail Merge FAQ). Getting it to switch off/on would be rather more
complicated, as it would require using events. But if you really want
it, it can be done.
