Generic Text only printer

I get a 0 KB (empty) file when I print to my generic text only printer. I
have reloaded the driver several times and have also checked for updates.

Help!

There is no "Printer." I'm trying to print to a file so that I can then
manipulate the results in Excel, Notepad, etc.
