Generic PnP Monitor

dirty old man

I have a Gateway FPD2185W monitor.

When installing both Vista x86 and x64 the monitor was identified in
Device Manager as a Generic Plug and Play Monitor. No Gateway
software was installed.

Upon the final boot and the initial display of the desktop, the monitor
was automatically set to the optimum resolution of 1680 x 1050 and
60 Hz refresh rate. The color depth was set to 16 bits which I had to
change to 32-bits.

The only software provided by Gateway was the EZ Tune program
which enabled the auto rotate feature and the various input switching
options.

No icm color profiles were provided. The monitor is still identified
in Device Manager as a Generic Plug and Play monitor.

The nVidia 7600GS driver offers a correct max resolution of 1680 x1050.

Therefore, NO specific Gateway FPD2185W.inf monitor file is needed to
correctly identify the max resolution of the monitor.
