GEEN MOVING Vista BAR + BLACK SCREEN endlessly

Vista HUNG UP/STUCK endlessly for hours with black screen except for a small
Vista Green Moving Bar + Black Screen + small words "(c)2006 Microsoft
Corporation. All rights reserved"I've been troubleshooting this for over 10
hours.

Computer: HP pavilion notebook ZE4500AMD (1 GB) using Vista RC1 CPP w/
actual Micrsoft 32 bit DVD. FYI been using Ultimate on this machine happily
with NO problems for over one month. Vista setup error message reads:
"Windows Error Recovery. (1) insert your wind install dis (2) choose lang (3)
click repair" ...this step does not work. Options list usual: "Using Safe
Mode, Comm Prompt, Last Know, or Start Normally". All end in the same result
described above: Using F10 at start up does allow for Memory Check; which
took 1 hour resulting in no known issues. All steps done with and without
DVD. (also have unpluged all perph's). ..........

After 10 hours of troubleshooting (just as I was ready to send this
question!)Windows Vista Ultimate opened ....after 40 minutes of "the litte
GREEN MOVING VISTA BAR + BLACK SCREEN" using Syst Restore choice.

I welcome SUGGESTIONS to PREVENT this startup/hangup from happening again?

FYI also have Office Proffessional Plus 12.0.44407.1002 (legal Micosoft
Download June2006), however for past month Vista Add/Remove Programs says
OffPro is Corrputed (but I can not uninstall)...not sure if related or
not...I'll report this to Office Community as well...........

format your harddrive and do a clean reinstall.
sounds windows /and / or Programs are very much broken on your machine.

Try to find someone who has RC2, which is more stable than RC1.

RC2 was tragically only few days available for Download to public, but the
Product-Key will be the same for it, so if you happen to find that Build
(5744) .

Never forget : you are running Beta-Software, rtm is much more better and
reliable.

thank you much for the info on RC2 and suggestons! I ordered my RC1 disc
direct from Microsoft's Customer Preview Program, but assume that did not
automatically qualify me to order/obtain RC2....
