Gateway Icon missing from Network Places

I have a home network using the Linksys BSFR41 router/switch as the gateway
to connect to the net via my cable modem. Just added a new computer to the
network. Connection to the net and the other network computers shared
folders from the new computer is fine and I can access the router by
browsing to its IP addresswithout a problem. All computers on the network
are running WinXP Pro.

The existing computers show the router as an entry in Network Places that
has the "globe and monitor" icon and whose tool tip identifies it as a
"Device available on your network." Clicking the icon opens the router's
login page. This entry is missing from the Network Places folder of the new
computer although icons to shared folders on the other computers are
present. I once had a reference as to what the fact it was missing
signified and how to to fix it but for the life of me I can't find it now.
Anyone able to shed some light on this mystery?

Hi,

Go check in your Add/Remove Programs in Control panel and inside there click
on Add/Remove Windows Components.

Then scroll down to Network Services and go into that, and make sure you
have the Internet Gateway Device Discovery and Control Client enabled and
also the UPnP User Interface enabled.

They see if the Internet Gateway icon shows up.

That did it - re-discovered it about a half-hour after posting. Thanks
