Garbled fonts in Vista Home Basic games

I am using Vista Home Basic 32bit, and all the games that come with vista
have broken fonts, which are unreadable.

I attach a screenshot of what it looks like. The pop up hints at the bottom
left are also oversized and aliased, so you cannot read everything

Dell Inspiron 530, Geforce 8300 GS graphics with 163.75 drivers (WHQL) all
updates on Microsoft Update

I found the problem using search, it was nvidia's control panel! Setting it
to "let application decide" fixed it.

Search for Hearts Name problem for how I found out.

Go to your Start menu, select to list All Programs and look under Games.
You need to click on the word to expand everything that is underneath.
