Gantt Charting

I have found a few really good examples of creating Gantt Charts using
horizontal stacked bar charting. I have done so creating two totally
seperate Gantt Charts on one worksheet. The purpose of both is for schedule
estimation, one for a nominal estimate and the other for a custom (tuned)
estimate. What I would really like to do is combine the two charts into one
single chart showing both estimate bars right next to each other similar to
what you can do in MS Project showing actual plotted against the baselined
estimate. Anyone ever tried to do this either with the wizard or with VBA?

Yes sir, I have. This is excellent information and I have used a good
portion of it already. However, using this example as a point of reference,
I need to put two bars for Task1, two for Task 2, and so on all the way
through Task 9. So that one bar is for the nominal schedule estimate and the
other for the custom schedule estimate, as follows:

Task 1 | ============<> 6/1/07
| :::::::::::::::::::::::<> 7/14/07
Task 2 | ============<> 8/16/07
| :::::::::::::::::::::::<> 8/30/07

This is just an example of what I am striving for. Plotting both schedule
results on the same chart within the worksheet. I have tried about eight
times using a number of variations to get there and have nearly concluded
that I'll have to do this in VBA to get it to work.

Why not include both your nominal & custom estimates in the same source data
alternately with a third blank row between each pair. Put TaskX as your cat
labels only in nominal rows, ie in triplets with every 2nd & 3rd blank.

Make your chart as described by Jon Peltier including removing all
formatting from the first stacks.
Double click series > Options > Gap width = 0. This should place pairs of
schedules adjacent with a gap between (ie the empty rows)

In the scale options for the Y axis 1,1,3 respectively

Format every other bar to distinguish nominal & estimate

Optionally add a third dummy series named "custom" with blank values to add
to the stacks, format third series in the legend same as the custom bars,
delete the first series from the legend. Name the second series "nominal"
(even though it includes data for both)
