Was there a problem before you upgraded the drivers ?

Sounds like a driver problem but could be hardware related
like RAm or heat etc its hard to tell from this
information.

Try this link to clean out your install of the videocard
http://www.driverheaven.net/cleaner/

And try a clean install from safe mode.

try this link for a hardware failure test
http://www.passmark.com/

this link will test your RAM
http://www.memtest86.com/

Have you changed any settings recently like power options
if so turn them back off.

Also check your modem is that connected to a LAN is there
a firewall etc etc.

Thanks for your help.

Yes, the problem exists before the drivers upgrade. The
powers option was not changed. The modem is not connected
to a LAN, and the Windows XP firewall is not active.

So, I will try the links you recommend.

Thanks.
