Game Delta Force Xtreme

Delta Force Xtreme says it will run on an ATI Radeon 9500, 9600, 9700,
9800. It won't run on my ATI AIW 9800. Is there a difference in the graphic
card part of the AIW, or is the only difference the video card ID number?

The DFX video detection says the AIW 9800 does not have HW T&L and does not
have multitexturing. Does the ATI Radeon 9800 have these and the AIW
doesn't?

The AIW 9800 has exactly the same 3D feature set as the "standard" 9800. DFX
is probably one of those games (MechCommander 2 is another one...) that
check your video card against a whitelist. Look for a workaround in DFX
forums.

Of course, that's assuming you have up-to-date drivers for your card.

I found it is a much more serious problem, no other programs that use 3d
acceleration will work. Not only that, but when I run dxdiag, on the display
tab direct 3d is disabled and grayed out.

Right off I thought the ATI AIW 9800 had died so I put in a geforce 6800 I
had. It does the same thing. Looks like I either have a screwed up Windows
instillation or the motherboard has died. Funny, everything works good
except 3d acceleration. Must be some function of the AGP that is screwed up.

Turn on Hardware Acceleration in the Display properties. Then Reboot.
When up, open up dxdiag and enable acceleration on the display tab.
