Game crashes/blue screen etc

Brian

I have just rebuilt a system and installed xp pro on
newely formatted drive. However when games are played such
as The Sims after a few mins the pc crashes either a
reboot or blue screen. Normal apps seem ok.
I have foramtted and installed several times. Games all
worked under 2000.

Asus A7V333, Athlon 2100 cpu, 2x 60 gig hd, 256 ram, (new
changed after first crash) Nvidia 440 graphics card (new).
All drivers inc xp and bios updated.

Not sure what else to look at.
Could it be any m/board settings?

Cheers

Hi Brian,

You want to look at your system drivers for the following:
Motherboard chipset; Video; Sound.

You also should update to the latest Direct X version 9.0b,
and install the other updates available from Windows Update
site. Hope this helps! :)

What sound card are you using? I had major problems with the Sims, with my
SB Audigy. Make sure you have the latest drivers for absolutely everything!

You may want to try making the settings as low as possible,
like sound , video , etc, I have seen that work. Also do a
DXDIAG and see if there are any problems in the Direct X
settings.
\go Start > RUN > type dxdiag in window and hit OK then
when the program runs, look at all the settings and see if
there are any error messages.
I hope this helps.

I have exactly the same problem, and nearly the same set
up. Did you find a solution?
