Funny Mark in document

I'm using Word 2000 but for the past week when ever I start typing a funny
mark is shown at the end of each line. It looks like a backwards IP with the
P coloured in. It doesnt show up on print preview or on printed documents.

Could you please advise me in whether there is anything I can do to get rid
of this annoying mark.

Thanks in advance

This is a formatting mark. I have 2003 but all you need to do is click on
the same "backward IP" on your toolbar -or- Tools|Options|View, deselect
formatting marks.

If you see it at the end of every line, it means you are treating your
word processor like a typewriter and pressing "Enter" at the end of a
line instead of letting the computer do its job.

Or maybe you've imported text from a website.

If you don't also see, for instance, a dot between every word, then
it's not the Non-Printing Characters button (or Ctrl-Shift-8), but
instead you have Paragraph Marks checked in your View Options.

Good point. And there is more on this at http://word.mvps.org/faqs/formatting/CleanWebText.htm.
