Function of Spybot TeaTimer?

There you go.Good comparisons of various software that monitor the
registry. Eg Mike Lin's Startup Monitor ,DiamondCS Registry Prot 2.0 ,
Teatimer, system safety monitor etc.

Personally I would go for teatimer (more for it's ability to recognise and
block bad processes rather than it's registry monitoring capabilities) and
system safety monitor, which allows you to define which registry keys and
files to monitor.

Thanks a lot Aaron. That thread and your recommendation has me in the
process of tossing out Mike Lin's Startup Monitor and going with System
Safety Monitor. I will try to get full coverage based on all the
startup locations, as shown in Sysinternals AutoRuns (use view pull down
menu for that feature). SS

I noticed System Safety Monitor used ~4% of processor cycles, about as
much as winamp. I guess it's to be expected. I think I'll stick with
Startup Monitor, as I so far I've only needed protection from common
applications, not from myself.

Here's another good thread, especially the first and last post:

Here is a page with even more startup locations than Sysinternals
AutoRuns lists:

http://www.diamondcs.com.au/index.php?page=autostarts

I think that if you have your system fully protected, you won't have too
much computer left to do anything constructive. I opt out.

Is that just for the plugins? Or does that include the "watch app"
function?

I think I'll stick with

I'm aware of both lists and a few other tricky startup methods not included
in both.... :)

Well computer security is a matter of personal comfort, if you are
comfortable with mikelin's startup monitor, go for it!
