"Full range" not working for 5.1 rear speakers

Uhm yeah im not sure how to actively suggest something to the error-fixing
people of Microsoft but I have a bug of sorts to report -

When using 5.1 speaker configuration the option under audio configuration of
full-range satellites does not appear to work for rear satellites whether
enabled or not.
The result is drastically limited range on rear satellites whether you like
it or not.

I have confirmed this with a number of other forums such as winamp and
hydrogenaudio etc with numerous sound cards and speaker sets.

I'm sure its not such a big probelm to fix with Windows KB.

PS. related to many other forum members I have helped out in this regard
please do something in the next release to make "speaker fill" set to default
"on".

This is a function of the sound device driver. It should be directed to the
sound device manufacture.

No the thing is i'm using the ac'97, another poster used a creative card and
still i've seen other complaints with X-Fi and many other cards, (a microsoft
phone rep confirmed this with me and told me to post it as a suggestion here)
this is not card-specific...

this is not card-specific...

Even though it's happening on different cards and audio devices, I still
believe it's a function of the driver for that device. Creative has been
horrible in getting working drivers for their cards. As an example I have
an old Audigy sound card. I was in the TechBeta for Vista. One of the
early creative drivers worked in one of the Beta releases and gave me 4.1
surround sound. Subsequent drivers and Vista releases it was very unstable,
in one case causing a BSOD, and lost the surround sound. The creative
drivers still don't provide it, for any of their cards, that I am aware of,
and it's a creative driver problem.

Yeah well the thing is I now know of four different manufacturers having
this problem,
Realtek, Creative, Montego and Sabrent.
It can only be the OS because almost all work in 7.1 mode properly. Its
probably 1 wrong line of code that doesn't enable full range in the rear.
How do I get this straight to someone who can do something about it rather
than ranting in forums?!
I have moaned and pleaded in the forums of winamp, thetechguy, hydrogenaudio
and thevistaforums, the general consensus is that the rear speakers sound
awful and that a tiny bug is to blame... Updating drivers does jack-all and I
need some real help here!

If you think it's a bug in the OS you can report it to MS. If the confirm
it's a bug they don't charge you for the support call. Here are some
