Fuji Finepix S304 not recognized

Hi

After following the Fuji instructions to the letter my Finepix S304 is not
recognized when connected (via a USB port). Fuji suggested trying an
onboard USB port but that made no difference.

The camera should show up as a USB mass storage device but it doesn't appear
in My Computer or Device Manager. All other USB devices I have are OK in
any of the USB ports.

The strange thing is that this only happened after I upgraded the CPU (to
Athlon xP 2400+ with new mobo)

I have uninstalled and re-installed several times.

Can anyone help please?

Hi

camera on surprisingly enough!
I know ...... the computer should have been switched on!!!

It may not be worth the hassle, considering that card readers are so
cheap...and they save on batteries, and extend the life of the connector
on the camera itself. Be sure the one that you buy is for the type of
card used by the camera.

I recently encountered the same type of problem when

trying to connect a compact flash reader. I figured out
that XP was assigning the same drive letter(F) that a
mapped network drive was using. I moved the mapped drive
to S: and it then worked fine. I couldn't find anything
about this problem from Microsoft......go figure. Oh yeah,
I forgot to mention....I had this happen on 2 machines. I
