ftp and multiple adapters

I have a web/ftp server, two NIC (one intel, one 3Com). The
router directs port 20/21 incoming to adapter 1; port 80
goes to adapter 2.
My two issues/questions>
1. The ftp is either slow, or fails. I thought it might be
the ftp server (MSFT), so I tried another. Works fine for a
while, then its deja vue. I checked ports and ftp is bound
to both NICs. I thought that by setting filtering on the
adapter I could restrict the intel to 20 and 21 and ?53 and
80 (?and 53) to the 3Com. But the dialog box that comes up
indicates that it would filter for 20 and 21 or ALL
adapters, which is obviously not what I want.
2. Is there an inherit problem with Intel network
controllers, where by they seem to just take a break...

Thanks
John

why do you have 2 adapters for this?

How are you networking?

I prefer intel nic's to all others.

I wanted to have the ftp adapter on DMZ... some clients
have problem using passive mode and (I think) ms ftp is
passive by default; not sure, and perhaps it can be
changed?
May end up dropping the intel, because my experience has
been opposite of yours; 3Com has worked well for us.
