Frontpage distorts Pasted Images?

Thankyou, but I'm not looking for a work around, I'm looking for why 2 weeks
ago it worked fine, and today it does something completely different.

Have you install any MS updates in that time?

YES...I've been telling you...RESIZE & OPTIMIZE the images BEFORE you bring them into FP. It's not a work around, its the best way. FP is not an image editor.

Care to be specific about what and where you're suggesting? As I said,
frontpage is changing the resolution of the file, not resizing the file on
the page.

I'm not trying to use FP as a image editor. I'm trying to paste the picture
AS IS. It worked 2 weeks ago, it doesn't work today. WHY? What settings got
changed. If you can't help me find an answer to why something worked then and
not now, stop offering suggestioons. You're offering a work arounds.

Ok, you have updated to Windows XP from Windows 98 SE, did this issue start as soon after you
upgraded or has it work since you upgraded.

If it hasn't worked since you upgraded, then most likely it has to deal with the fact that Windows
XP is a completed different OS, then Windows 98 SE and my requires you to locate updates for
application to work correctly, such as PhotoShop, so have you checked the Adobe site for any Windows
XP updates for PhotoShop?

I fresh installed everything. And frontpage resizes and distorts the image
whether I'm copying in Photoshot, Paint, or Paint Shop Pro.

This was what I read (probably has nothing to do with OP since he says he's working with jpg) - although this may be true for other vector graphics:

"If you try to use the copy/paste command with vector (wmf) images, you will have problems due to the clipboard saving them as a .bmp image. Bitmap files are raster images and converting vector images into .bmp format will result in image distortion (usually the color scheme is off). Instead, use the FILE/IMPORT method."

I don't think people understood my original problem, so I'm going to try a
new thread with visual aids. Ok, here's my website...

http://www.stratusfaction411.com

Traditionally, I could take an image file, copy it, ctrl-v it into the blue
area and then go into the image properties and resizing it to fit the cell
how I want (keeping the file at it's original resolution.)

However, since fresh installing Windows XP this has been happening...

http://www.stratusfaction411.com/paste.jpg

As you can see, not only is the file resized, but it's distorted. If I were
to copy the distorted file out, or save it, this is the end result..

http://www.stratusfaction411.com/images/headlines/03212005a.jpg

Obviously Frontpage is doing something to the image BECAUSE, when I open up
the Officeclip board and then paste via it this happens...

http://www.stratusfaction411.com/officeClip.jpg

That's how it USED TO paste images onto a page. Original resolution and
everything. I would then go into image properties and set it down to fit the
cell properly...

http://www.stratusfaction411.com/final.jpg

Keeping the picture at it's original resolution.

I'm not looking to be told to save the file and import it. I shouldn't have
to import the file because for 2 years now I've NEVER had to import the file.
Some setting has changed between win98se/frontpage2002 installation and
winXP/frontpage2002.

I would like to figure out what's going on so ctrl-v does the same thing as
the office clipboard. I will also note that regardless of the source of the
copy the end result is the same. Pasting images into other office products
retains their resolution without a forced resize or restortion.

I understand your problem totally. I just can't figure out what would cause
it. Never seen anything like it before. Tried to duplicate it with no luck.

I doubt very much it is an FP only issue. I suspect an OS or driver issue
somewhere. Have you done all the updates for XP and office and graphics
programs?

Looking at the resolution on the sample picture, it appears that it is
reducing the resolution by a lot, but the size is still about the same.
Maybe something odd about that particular picture?
