Help

Can’t figure out what’s wrong

Counters stuck on 1 no matter what i do

See example at

http://www.g13b.com

I notice that for some reason it’s trying to get the counter info off my c:
drive instead of the web server???

http://www.22re.com/_vti_bin/fpcount.exe/C:/Documents and Settings/Owner/My%

Something is corrupt when it publishes

I have already reinstalled fp extensions twice and I know they are working
because all other functions work perfectly

Have also reinstalled fp 2003 with no relief

Any ideas or does any one know some one that I can pay to fix problem
Thanks in advance

Oh one last note all counters in site work great except new ones that I add
now

So the old counters that haven’t been messed with still work fine
But edit one of those or add a new one and they don’t work

thanks
John

Did you actually have a web created and open on your local pc before working
on a page, adding the hit counter, etc. before you published to the remote
host?

yes
also web site its self is over 10 years old
actually wrote the whole thing long hand in html in about 1994 ish
then switched to fp when ever it first came out and now using fp 2003

if i edit an old counter thats been up and working for years it then reverts
to 1 and takes 4 minutes to load as it is trying to seek the count off from
my hard drive instead of the server

my guess is some file having to do with publishing paths has becomne corrupt
but i dont have a clue where to look for these files

i also restored my pc back to pre counter problem date and no help there
(although it created 100 different problems with other software lol)

hmmm

I click on the icon on my desk top to open FrontPage

Then click on the page I wish to edit then edit it then publish through fp
to my web server

The same way I have been doing it since I upgraded to fp 2003

Any and all changes or even a new page done this way publishes fine to the
server in the correct directories etc etc everything works fine except the
counters

If I still haven’t answered your question then I’m not sure i understand the
question

However I extremely appreciate any help you can give me
Thanks
John

Once FP is launched, you then go to File Menu | Open Web / Site (Local PC), then you open page,
correct?

Have you contacted your web host regarding this issue?

When I open FrontPage my website copy on my hard drive is automatically open
however if i do it exactly the way you say it still doesn’t work as far as
the counters go

I haven’t contacted host
But I did reinstall fp extensions

Also I believe it’s a self created problem

I went crazy one day about 4 weeks ago
Creating multiple frame pages (for different domain names)
Some how in that haze of creating multiple frames pages I corrupted the path
for the counters

All worked well the day before and none has worked since

Something else to add is in the html view in fp on the counters that
aren’t working

I see this (actually there is 3000 plus characters in this line)
But here is the first part

onload="FP_preloadImgs(/*url*/'file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/Owner/My%20Documents/22re.com%20web%20site/images/buttons/CROSSMENUBUTTONS/button2.jpg',

I believe that should be the path on the server?????

Anyway
Thanks
Again
John

Normally when you see "file" in the path, this is a indication that the web / site is not open when
the item was edited/Inserted into the page.

Is your web hosting account a dedicated IP address or Shared IP Address where each domain must be
configured to have the extensions?
