Frontpage 2002 use with web camera

I use FP2002 for my website design software. I would like to use a webcam on
occasion to upload a captured picture from my webcam to a page on my website.
The camera will upload the picture via FTP.

Has anyone done this or doing this right now without causing problems to
their website (such as corrupting the FP 2002 server extensions)? I have not
tried this yet, because I'm am leery after being told from previous
webhosting compaies that using FTP and Frontpage to upload pages can easily
corrupt the server extensions (whether true or not...?).

I have had a number of problems previously with losing the ability to access
subwebs I have created in the past when I was hosting with some other
companies (and had to constantly reinstall my FP extensions...losing access
to my subwebs). I'm very happy with my web hosting company now, so I am not
sure if the problems I have had in the past was on the web host side
(although I suspect it was), but I would like to find out if anyone is using
a webcam in this fashion without problems to the extensions? The last thing
I would want to do is corrupt the FP extensions and have to redo my subwebs...

Please share any experiences you've had..

i run a number of webcams on my site, which is completely built with Front
Page. Take a look if you'd like and you can see how I've integrated the
separate cams. Each camera uploads to an external, third-party host's
server and i have an FTP user name for each separate camera as well.

I've been doing this since.... aw crap, time to show my age... FP97 with no
problems. Also, I have a mix of mac and pc webcam software accessing the
FrontPage site and it seems to run fine. Let me know if I can help with
anything.

I don't have a webcam up and going right now, but I used to. I did it to a subweb without problems, the webcam software FTP'd it up the the subweb on a schedule set by the webcam software. The only reason I took it down is I only had only one 'puter at the time and it took too many resources on the machine I need to actually do 'work' on. [not a FP issue]

Your sunset pictures are wonderful! Thanks for the link - I'm sure I'll go
back often to enjoy your sunsets. Although, we do have beautiful sunsets
here in Idaho (just wish we had the water to go with them!).

try the above. it is a small application that runs from your web server (if you
have your own) or from your PC and uploads an image at a specified time
interval....you then need a meta refresh or javascript or something to refresh
the page every so often (e.g. after the upload of a new image).

it might help you, though now I re-read your post, yes there might be a bit of
trouble regarding the FTP and FP extensions.

I can understand the leery-ness

But that's the beauty of putting it in a subweb...if it messes up, your main web shouldn't suffer. I've crashed my experimental subwebs enough to know!

| I think I'm going to go forward and set a webcam up based on your advice. I

| was too busy reinstalling my FP extensions because of all the problems I had

| to ever make it a priority.
